The collections of the Tivodar Lehoczky Transcarpathian Regional Museum of Local Lore have been enriched by a woven children’s cradle mounted on wooden rockers.
The artifact was donated to the museum by the Prots family. The cradle was presented to the family by friends in 2003 on the occasion of the christening of their daughter Anastasiia, who was born on 1 June. For many years, it was carefully preserved as a family keepsake, and today it has become part of the museum’s collection.
The item is of particular value due to its origin. Similar cradles are traditionally produced in the village of Iza, a renowned center of wickerwork craftsmanship in the Khust region. The cradle combines traditional woodworking and willow weaving techniques characteristic of Transcarpathian folk crafts.
Such objects are not merely household items; they are important testimonies to family memory, local traditions, and the continuity of generations.
We sincerely thank the Prots family for their contribution to preserving the cultural heritage of our region. The cradle will now undergo detailed documentation and inventory registration before being featured in future thematic exhibitions of the museum.
