Department of History and Local Studies
Head of Department – Valeriia Rusyn.
The Department of History and Local Studies researches key issues in the history of the region from ancient times up to 1914. Its activities include research work, exhibition and display development, cultural and educational programs, acquisition of museum collections, as well as scientific attribution and classification of objects.
Ethnography Section
Head of Section – Vasylyna Palinchak-Kutuzova.
The main areas of work include the study and processing of ethnographic collections, as well as the promotion, preservation, and research of folk traditions, customs, rituals, and traditional clothing of the various ethnographic groups of Transcarpathia. The section also collects artifacts that help better represent the cultural, historical, and national diversity of the region.
Archaeology Section
The museum’s archaeological collection comprises around 30,000 items dating from the earliest times to the 17th century. The main areas of activity include the study of archaeological sites, research of medieval castles in Transcarpathia, and archaeological excavations.
Nature Section
Head of Section – Ruslana Dzhakhman.
This section includes the exhibition “Nature of Transcarpathia.” The natural history collection comprises around 8,000 items in the main storage groups: paleontology, geology, zoology, and botany. The main areas of work include the study and research of the flora and fauna of the Transcarpathian region, as well as the creation of catalogues of museum items.
Department of Modern History and “A. Voloshyn Memorial Museum-Room”
Head of Department – Mykhailo Dzhakhman.
The main area of work is providing methodological and practical assistance in establishing and reorganizing museums.
Collections Department
Chief Curator – Tetiana Shevnina.
The main responsibilities include proper registration, protection, and preservation of museum collections.
Conservation and Restoration Section
Head of Section – Roman Murnyk.
Main activities include the restoration and conservation of museum objects.
Department of Scientific, Educational Work and Promotion
Head of Department – Mykhailo Lesiv.
The main areas of work include cultural and educational activities, museum marketing and management, and visitor guiding services.
